The four wheel drive Alfa Romeo 147 'Crosswagon' is seen here undergoing winter testing as the countdown begins to its Paris Motor Show debut this coming September.

Following hard on the heels of the 156 Crosswagon which received its World Premiere last month in Geneva, the smaller 147 hatchback will now receive four wheel drive and off road capability, provided again courtesy of the innovative Torsen C-System transmission.

The 4x4 system is clearly visible in these photos, along with a raised ride height.

Power will come from the new 150bhp 1.9 M-JTD turbodiesel, while cosmetic changes will include 17in wheels, beefed up bumpers and side skirts, aluminium protection plates, and front nose styling revisions that will offer pointers to next year's facelifted model.
