24.08.2004 photographs of alfa romeo's 156 replacement show further interior and exterior details

Alfa Romeo Project 939

Although taken at night, these pictures provide a good impression of the Alfa 156 replacement's interior, albeit still using low cost pre-production trim.

It is now clear how the speedometer and rev counter will look, with handsome no-nonsense silver detailing. This prototype is fitted with the 2.2 JTS engine.

In-between the two characteristic Alfa dials is an LCD information display screen, similar to those found on the latest Ferrari and Maserati products.

Certain parts of the trim in these pictures are not production oriented, including the steering wheel and door sill trim.

The centre console will incorporate a low fixed arm-rest, covering a storage compartment. The foldable arm-rest on the current 156 was considered too high-up by certain customers, whilst in the up position it blocked access to objects in the rear. This has therefore been remedied on the new model.

Further pictures of the exterior show a clearer impression of the front grilles with their large honeycomb mesh finish.
