Less than twenty four hours before it will make its worldwide debut at the prestigious MPH04 Motor Show in London, later this evening, the eagerly-anticipated Autodelta GT Super finally broke cover.

This exciting new car will today, become the third member of the Autodelta 'family', joining the recent 147 GTA AM 3.7 and 156 GTA AM 3.7, both of which will also be appearing over the next five days at the Earls Court showcase event.

The GT Super, which boasts an amazing 320bhp, reintroduces the concept supercharging to Alfa Romeo, building on a tradition that harks back to the days when Enzo Ferrari was a factory Alfa driver, and the engineering genius of Vittorio Jano was propelling the Milanese carmarker towards immortality.

And if anyone is aware of the decade upon decade of tradition, it is the London-based design and tuning firm Autodelta, who are committed to everything the name stands for, as they push ever forward with their quest to squeeze the last drop of performance out of those glorious engines.

Last week, the highly enthusiastic boss of Autodelta, Jano Djelalian, offered us a glimpse of their new creation. However, the prototype had only just completed a rigorous and extensive road test programme, and was being prepared for its MPH04 debut. As such, it was sporting development parts, and festooned with wiring that would only mean something to the firm's skilled engineers.

Yesterday, Autodelta would be conducting a photoshoot with the new GT Super, as the countdown to MPH04 started to really rachet up. A typical mid-November English day awaited us: cold, damp and misty; a day to be huddled inside, not standing in a soggy lane. Turn down this invite? Not a chance!

The Autodelta GT Super arrived. It looks gorgeous, the car's award-winning lines suberbly enhanced by Autodelta's in-house styling arm, Creativestudio.

The front end offers shades of Ferrari's Enzo supercar, the aggressive spoiler's lines sweeping upwards to blend in perfectly with the traditional, Alfa Romeo grille, a feature that, simply put, works perfectly. Two huge intakes force the maximum amount of air available into that thirsty V6 engine and its cleverly engineered supercharger.

The rear end is dominated by a 'splitter' effect section of the rear bumper. Boldly, it has been painted black, allowing its arching upward lines to grab the eye. An unobtrusive 'lip' spoiler subtly adds some needed sharpness to the soft lines of the bootlid. It all adds up to give the back of the GT a more pronounced appearance.

The engine sounds like nothing else at all. It screams, with a mesmerising note that you just have keep listening to, intently.

The GT Super is straining at the leash, the photographer is waving his arms, a mix of excited English and Italian voices can be heard when the revs drop, the damp and the coldness have slipped from one's mind. The Autodelta GT Super has finally arrived, its impact is assured.
