17.03.2004 FERRARI'S MARANELLO FACTORY DAMAGED BY OVERNIGHT FIRE

FerrariThe Ferrari factory in Maranello suffered a fire overnight. The Italian Fire Brigade were called out in the early hours of this morning to a blaze in the road car experimental hangar area.

"We intervened at around 1.00am," said an official from the local fire brigade. "A hangar in the experimental section containing several car prototypes was burning. The fire is now under control."

The Fire services got the blaze under control reasonably quickly, but it is believed that while no-one was injured, several road cars, including prototypes, and some equipment was either damaged or destroyed. The building in question is only in partial use at present.
