Ferrari 275Yesterday, the Ferrari 275 Tour was presented to the media at the Westin Palace Hotel in Milan. Speaking at the press conference was the head of Ferrari Corse Clienti, Claudio Berro.

“The idea of holding a rally for the Ferrari 275 stemmed from this model’s successful past, on both road and track, especially in hill climbs and endurance races,” said Claudio Berro. “In fact, the 275 represents the essence of Ferrari at that time: a car designed for road use, but built with totally sporting pretensions.”

On Tuesday 15th June, the Ferrari 275 Tour will set off from the Fiorano circuit. It is the first event organised by Ferrari itself to celebrate the 40th anniversary of one of its most iconic models. The Ferrari 275, in all its guises, GTB, GTB4, GTB Competizione, GTS and Spider Nart will be the undoubted star of the event which makes its way around Tuscany starting from Maranello, over six days, ending on 20th June.

The run will follow an unusual mix of competitive events on road sections where the 275 underwent its first trials and where it also scored its first important wins with stops in some of the most prestigious Tuscan homes, usually closed to the public but now open to offer a unique and exclusive experience to those taking part in the Tour.

Guest of honour on the 275 Tour will be the legendary two and four wheeled ace, John Surtees, for whom this will be a 40th anniversary celebration of his taking the F1 World Championship title at the wheel of a Ferrari 158 F1 car.

The Tour has drawn 56 entries from all around the world: USA, Japan, Hong Kong, South Africa and Europe.

“This event also serves to authenticate the history of these cars for Ferrari,” continued Berro. “From the beginning of last year, we initiated a certification service for historic Ferrari and Maserati cars. This service is aimed at protecting the identity of these models and their value for our collectors.”
