Alcoa
announced today that they have been selected by Ferrari to supply the aluminium
spaceframe for the coming F430 sportscar. "Alcoa is very
excited about working with Ferrari on the F430. This continues collaboration
between our two companies that has already produced two of the most exciting
sports cars in the world, the 360 Modena and 612 Scaglietti.
Production of Ferrari space frame components illustrates
Alcoa's pan-European manufacturing and supply capabilities. Cast, extruded and
fabricated components are produced in Hungary, Germany and the Netherlands and
shipped to Modena, Italy, where they are assembled into the finished space frame
at an Alcoa facility inside Ferrari's Scaglietti Works.
