Fiat are to
launch a 4x4 version of the Stilo at the Paris International Motor Show this
autumn.
The car, so far believed to be called Stilo Adventure, will continue a recent
and aggressive 4x4 arsenal set forward by Fiat with the Panda 4x4 production
model and Idea 4x4 concept.
These pictures, which were taken in Turin, confirm that the newcomer will be
fitted with a robust-looking body kit to underline the car’s rugged appeal. The
4x4 system is believed to be a derivation of the recently launched Panda 4x4 system, whilst
body changes include grey plastic bumpers finished with a chequer-plate
sump-guard look.
Grey plastic side-skirts with metal sill-strips will also be fitted, together
with thick plastic wheel-arch extensions and roof rails. Power will come from
the highly regarded new 1.9-litre M-Jet diesel.
Prices are yet unknown, but the model will arguably find a “class of its own”,
the only competitor that comes close is the petrol-powered Subaru Impreza 4x4
Plus estate-car range.
