To mark the official arrival of the new Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster in the USA, Automobili Lamborghini recently held an special event, the 'Giro Roadster' in conjunction with the 19th annual Concorso Italiano, being presented as part of the highly prestigious Pebble Beach Concours. Two of the new Mucielago Roadsters, a car first revealed as a concept at the January 2003 North American Auto Show in Detroit, took to the US roads for the first time, heading from Santa Barbara, after an official ceremony, up the beautiful costal highway, to Monterey for the world famous Concours d'Elegance. The roadsters, joined for the occasion by special guest Goran Visnjic from the NBC television drama 'ER', were waved away from the exclusive Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica, California, by actress Kelly Carlson, star of the new FX show, Nip/Tuck, once the two 580bhp 6.2-litre V12-powered open top cars had been introduced by Lamborghini North America boss, Ehren Bragg, in the presence of a number of company executives who had travelled over from the Sant'Agata factory in Italy for the occasion. The new 200+mph models, which start US deliveries earl next year, were joined on the run up to Monterey by more than fifty Lamborghinis representing the marque's glorious heritage, including the fixed-roof Coupe Murcielago from which the roadster was derived. Other famous Lamborghinis in the convoy included the Murcielago's famous predecessors, the Diablo and the Countach, as well as the ledgendary GT400 and Muira. At the 19th running of the always annual Concorso Italiano, a key attraction of the weekend-long Pebble Beach event, the two Murcielago Roadsters formed the centre attraction of a large Lamborghini display laid out on the rolling greens of Monterey "We are excited to be able to bring these two incredible roadsters to the United States to showcase them for our dealers, club members, and American Lamborghini enthusiasts," commented Ehren Bragg, North America Manager for Automobili Lamborghini. "The Murcielago Roadster is the latest advance in the evolution of Lamborghini and we are proud to showcase the car here at the Concorso Italiano."
