The biannual ANFIA Stile Italiano Giovani
design competition closed it doors yesterday at Palazzo Birago in Turin.
It represented a
remarkable event at a glamorous location, underlining the passion and
determination which the Italian automotive industry has for style and flair.
Aside from the twenty design ideas presented by the shortlisted and winning young
designers which we covered over a week ago, the event also played host
to a selection of stunning concept cars from the Piemonte region.
All the finest
Italian design houses were represented, including Pininfarina, Italdesign, Carcerano, Stola
and Fioravanti.
The most noteworthy prototype representing an Italian brand was the Cecomp-presented
Lancia Fulvia Coupé. The Fulvia literally relaunched Lancia's image when it
was presented at the 2003
Frankfurt IAA Motor Show, and left the press and alike public eager for the car to
be produced. Unfortunately, to widespread dismay, the realisation of a production
version did not materialise.
Now, more than one year after its initial unveiling, the Fulvia still manages to
appear as fresh as ever. Its combination of soft and defined edges, together
with subtle detailing, represent a timeless design, packaged within compact
dimensions.
The decision for not producing this car can ultimately be
described as a real missed opportunity for the famous Lancia brand.
Due to the sheer interest that we have received over the past year regarding this concept car, we now offer a
further range of images covering this gorgeous concept's latest appearance.
