Pole
position for the crew of Italy’s Ravasio/Alessi (2’05’’253) in the
Trofeo Vodafone Maserati Europa 2004 for the race that takes place
tomorrow, Sunday 11th July at the Silverstone circuit as a curtain
raiser to the British Grand Prix. This is the first of two rounds of
this one make series that will be held in conjunction with a Formula 1
meeting. The second is scheduled for the weekend of the 25th July at
the German Hockenheim circuit.
In today’s qualifying session, second place went to the Swiss duo
Notter/Cattori (2’06’’237) ahead of the Italian driver Benedetto Marti
(2’06’’252.) Completing the top six places in the starting grid are
Cerrai (Italy,) Meaden (Great Britain) and Mountain/Wilson (Great
Britain.)
Around twenty cars, with drivers from four different countries will
take part in the race run to the usual mini-endurance format with
mandatory pit-stop, to ensure there is also plenty of excitement down
pit lane.
The Maserati Trofeo cars are based on the road-going Coupe Cambiocorsa
and are all fitted with Pirelli tyres. The racing version features a
lower weight and an increase in performance from its 4244 cc V8
engine. |
