Sixteen drivers arrived at the 3.707km Curitiba circuit in Brazil for the first race of the Maserati Trofeo Brasilia. Victory was eventually claimed by the pole winner, 23-year-old Leandro Schmit, who finished seven seconds clear of the pre-race favourite, Lico Kaselmodel, while Paulo de Tarso grabbed the final podium slot.
