Points leader of the GTS category,
French endurance expert, Larbre Competition, is looking for maximum
points at this weekend’s fourth and final round of the inaugural Le
Mans Endurance Series to truly set its mark of success on the series.
Having won all three previous rounds,
but disappointed with the post-Silverstone decision to award only half
points to the GTS class, Christophe Bouchut, Pedro Lamy and Steve
Zacchia are determined to end their LMES season as they started, with
a maximum ten points.
They will be aided in this weekend’s 1000km/6 hour event by the
addition of a second Larbre- entered, Care Racing-owned Ferrari 550
Maranello.
The car will be driven by a Franco-Czech line-up of Tomas Enge,
Patrice Goueslard and Robert Pergl, all of whom have considerable
experience of the
magnificent
6.946km, 15-corner track in the Ardennes region of Belgium.
Added to this is Enge’s three years’
intimate knowledge of the Prodrive-engined 6 litre V12 race winner –
including GTS victories at the 2003 24 Hours of Le Mans and Petit Le
Mans.
All this will be a huge advantage given that he does not arrive in Spa
until Sunday morning due to a clashing Formula 3000 race in Monza.
He will take part in the warm up but will not be permitted to take the
start of the race as he will not be here for qualifying.
This task will be carried out by
long-time Larbre driver, Patrice Goueslard; the Frenchman having also
gained experience of the Ferrari 550 during this year’s FFSA French GT
Championship and 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The newcomer to the Maranello this weekend is Czech driver, Robert
Pergl. The lawyer partnered Tomas Enge in last year’s FIA GT
Championship in an N-GT Ferrari 360, and will be working closely with
Goueslard during today’s two practice sessions to benefit from the
time available to familiarise himself with the car. |
