Stola
regards itself as a leader in model and show car construction and has
collaborated with more than ten car manufacturers of world
importance in an
intense and continuous way. During the last decade Stola has built fifty one show
cars
that have been introduced in the most prestigious Motor Show of the world.
This is a very important year for Stola as it
marks their 85th anniversary and to highlight this significant milestone they
will present
the S 85 prototype on Tuesday in Geneva.
The S 85 is based on the Lancia Thesis and aims to demonstrate Stola's expertise in the manufacture of the
highest quality prototypes, while emphasizing Turin's unique tradition of coach
building. The show car also celebrates a relationship with Lancia that began in
1919 when they commissioned Stola to manufacture the Lambda show car during
their first year of operation.
With the S 85, Stola have focused on the full utilization of CAE virtual
simulating to achieve, maximum use of available body structure, retain a high
level of structural rigidity without the significant loss of torsional
performance normally associated with long wheelbase vehicles, and thirdly, optimal
utilisation of interior package space.
Outwardly, the main visual difference from the standard car is the overall
length which has been increased by 600mm. This has been achieved without the
profiling defects of traditional limousines, after Stola revised all the upper
and side surfaces including glass and interior roof trim in order to achieve a
smooth flowing and cohesive form rather than a typical “stretched look”. The
two tone amaranth colour scheme was chosen to allude to the popular tradition
limousines of the Thirties and Forties and was achieved using the bicolour paint
system.
The interior
of this prototype is very sophisticated. Flawless, attention to detail combined
with beautiful surfaces aim to create an incredibly exclusive feel. The rear
floor is completely flat and finished in wood, all interior coverings are in
Frau leather, rear seats are fully adjustable, the interior is well appointed
with numerous accessories including special diffused lighting, drinks cooler and
the sophisticated LWD Mobile Car System. The system is a “portable travel
solution” extremely, comprehensive and suitable for any professional need.
Besides the GPS equipment, it allows for total office application guaranteeing
connection to Internet and Company as it can send and receive emails and faxes
globally. In terms of in car entertainment it also allows for DVD movies, video
games and CD's or MP3 files to be played.
This
custom-built car can be produced, on request, according to the customer's
personal requirements, which can include armour plating.
