Fiat have
presented the Idea based '5 Terre' concept in Geneva, the latest fruit in its new
strategy of maximising model ranges by producing niche 'fun' models. This
project introduced four wheel drive and off road capability into the Idea,
following hard on the heels of the
Panda 4x4.
The 5 Terre,
named after a famous stretch of Mediterranean coastline, offers a raised ride
height, four wheel drive and off road capability from Fiat's well received new
Idea mini-mpv.
Fiat's designers have created SUV looks for this concept by adding deeper,
bigger bumpers at both the front and rear, along with huge wheel arch moulding,
door panels and sill mouldings.
The curved roof luggage bars, blend very neatly
into the models arched lines while new lights are in the presently fashionable
round style. The 'off road' feel is completed by aluminium protection guards at
the front and rear, twin exhausts which exit through moulded outlets in the rear
bumper and large beefy looking wheels.
Emphasising the importance of the
Idea family to Fiat's future plans, the 5 Terre is situated in the centre of the
stand, mounted on a revolving turntable, itself blended into a raised section,
the concept flanked by two production Idea Multijet models. |
