At the Paris Mondial de l'Automobile this week Fiat have offered a taster of their forthcoming new saloon, codename 'New Large'. This new 5-door executive car will hit the market almost a decade after their last segment model, the very popular Croma, which enjoyed an eleven year production life. At the French motor show, a projector is flashing outline glimpses of the new saloon onto a large glass partition, as well as imparting short bursts of information. The theme of the projection is to emphasise that this will be a spacious, comfortable car that will accommodate families with ease. Silhouette actors clearly demonstrate this point. Of particular interest it the attention drawn to the unusually high roof line, focused on in this presentation as being one of the car's strong points. The large surface of the C-pillar, seen on the numerous disguised prototypes caught out testing, is also very visible. At the front of the projection, a strongly detailed radiator grille, along with headlamps that arch upwards as they chase out to the wings, can be clearly identified, although as this is merely a visual taster, accuracy must be taken into consideration. Expected to debut around the middle of next year, this car is expected to combine the practicality of an estate, with rakish Giugiaro-penned lines, that will help to also make it a genuine executive option.
