In memory of their popular Sporting Director, John Walton, who had died late on Friday night following a major heart attack days earlier, the Minardi F1 team ran their cars during yesterday's British Grand Prix at Silverstone, with all commercial identification removed, and in their place a simple tribute. The team's Italian driver Gianmaria Bruni commented after the race, 的t was a difficult race today with a number of problems, but I知 pleased that I was able to take the flag as a tribute to John".
Meanwhile their other pilot, Hungarian Zolt
Baumgartner said, 的知 upset that I wasn稚 able to finish the race and take the
chequered flag today. I had promised myself that I would do it, both for John
and for me". In the hard nosed world of Formula One it was a unique and heartfelt gesture from the Minardi team.
