07.10.2004 "I would love to win on Sunday, I am also keen to win in Brazil, but to achieve both these targets would mean me winning four races in a row" Rubens Barrichello looks forward to this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix

Rubens BarrichelloRubens Barrichello arrived in Suzuka today, having fulfilled various sponsor obligations in Tokyo. Prior to that, he and his wife Silvana had taken a holiday after his second win of the season, in Shanghai.

The Brazilian driver seems to be on top form, with back to back wins in Italy and China, so when he met the press in the Suzuka paddock this afternoon, he was immediately asked if he could make it three in a row. "In life there is always motivation to do something new," began the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro driver.

"This year, for the first time in my career, I won a grand prix for a second time at the same track, which is what happened at Monza. I am sure I can do that again.

"Can I do it here? Well the saying goes, never two without three, but I am keeping my feet on the ground. "We want to do well here for Bridgestone, as this is their home race and the tyres we have here are a good choice. However, I am remaining calm as usual."

The forces of nature have already had an interesting effect on the F1 people here in Japan, as Barrichello revealed. "When I was in Tokyo, I experienced an earthquake in my hotel," he said. "It was quite strong and I almost thought of re-packing my suitcase in case I had to get out quick! Now there is talk of very bad weather coming this way. If it does rain, then I hope that at least is ‘normal’ rain and nothing too heavy.

"Because Suzuka is an amazing track, but it can be a bit dangerous. It is great to drive as there is no time to relax and you have to push hard at every corner. It is always demanding on the drivers."

With Michael Schumacher having experienced a few difficulties in the last couple of races, it was put to Barrichello that the German was feeling under pressure from him, hence the mistakes. "No, that is not the case," laughed Rubens. "It is just a coincidence that Michael has had a few problems in the last races.

"Of course, I would love to win here on Sunday. I am also keen to win in Brazil, but to achieve both these targets would mean me winning four races in a row and that seems like a difficult target."
