09.04.2004 AFTER THEIR DREAM START IN MONZA LAST MONTH NEW FIA GT SERIES RUNNERS GPC SQUADRA CORSE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO VALENCIA

Standing second in both the GT and N-GT Championships after its first-ever race, new team G.P.C Giesse Squadra Corse finished in third and fourth places with its two Ferrari 575 GTC cars, while the team's Ferrari 360 Modena came in second.

Altogether a successful debut for the Italian team. "We were all very pleased, especially as the team only received the cars at Monza," Fabio Babini explained.

"It was great to finish on the podium for the team's first race, for the team and for Pirelli, who have all worked very hard, especially as I think it was the most difficult circuit for us."

The team has not had time to test since then. "Everyone has been busy in the workshop, looking for the best solutions for Valencia and Magny-Cours. I like Valencia, although I have only ever tested there. But it has some fast corners I really enjoy. I think that it will be quite a tough race for the drivers."

"Finishing third was a very good motivation for the team," Philipp Peter said. "The Ferrari 575 M Maranello did amazingly well to win on its debut - the car suited the circuit well, due to the high torque, and the fact that Estoril is a real driver's track.

"We were still missing power in Monza, as there has been no time yet for development.  Now, there are plenty of plans and projects afoot, and we hope for some developments after Magny-Cours."

Philipp previously tested at Valencia with Autorlando, but has never raced there. "It's a tight circuit, and it's going to be physically tough. It's narrow, and overtaking is going to be difficult, especially as the N-GT cars are going to be fast.  I think our Modena 360 will be very competitive. Fabio and I will be concentrating on doing a good job in the race; putting in a solid performance, like in Monza!"
