02.05.2004 "That's racing, such things just happen, even though it's a shame when it happens with your team mate", post FIA GT race reaction from Magny-Cours

The GPC Squadra Corse N-GT class Ferrari 360 Modena failed to build on its promising pole at Magny Cours

2nd in GT : Karl Wendlinger - nr 17 JMB Racing Ferrari 575 M Maranello: "The whole first stint was really good. The handling of the car worked well, the tyre performance was constant over the distance and both the set-up and the engine were very good.

"We're definitely on the right path. We're closer to the leaders than we have ever been before."

2nd in GT : Toto Wolff - nr 17 JMB Racing Ferrari 575 M Maranello: "That was certainly an interesting stint.

"There was a little problem with one of the BMS cars, which went off and came back to the track right in front of me. I had to go into the gravel to avoid hitting it.

"Luckily, our car did not get stuck there. I was also struggling a bit with the brakes. But I'm really happy with the podium result! It's fantastic to be driving in GT this season. When you're driving in N-GT, as I've done during the last few years, you're always looking up to the GT drivers a bit, and now I'm there as well."

2nd in GT : Robert Lechner - nr 17 JMB Racing Ferrari 575 M Maranello: "It feels great to be on the podium. It's good for me to finally catch up a bit with my brother and get my face known too. I have to thank the team, who've been working really hard and did a great job.

"I hope there'll be many more podiums and many more press conferences for me. I think we should be able to even improve our performance, and then we'll be right up there!"

3rd in GT : Fabrizio Gollin - nr 2 BMS Scuderia Ferrari 550 Maranello: "I had a good race, with a lot of pressure by the Saleen for about 15 minutes towards the end. It was very fast and I just couldn't hold it off any more, I tried to close the door but couldn't. It was only when Lechner made his move that I saw the big problem he had with his bodywork."

4th in GT : Matteo Bobbi - nr 1 BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari 550 Maranello: "The first stint was really good. I had an interesting fight with Karl Wendlinger. Then I had a problem with the tyres and I slowed down a bit and just tried to hold my position.

"Then in the second stint, Gabriele was very fast compared to Cappellari and he tried to overtake him, but he closed the door. It's a racing accident, but of course it's not good because we're in the same team. The last stint was really difficult for me because the first gear was broken and I could only use second, which meant I lost quite a lot of time. Over the last ten or eleven laps I also had some problems with the brakes. But overall, it was quite a good race."

4th in GT : Gabriele Gardel - nr 1 BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari 550 Maranello: "That's racing, such things just happen, even though it's a shame when it happens with your team mate. But it's been a good race for us, otherwise. Both the car and the Michelin tyres have been very constant."

6th in GT : Fabio Babini - nr 11 GPC Giesse Ferrari 575 M Maranello: "We started well, and I did a good stint. We were aiming to do a double stint with the tyres at the end, so I went out on the tyres Philipp Peter had used. I was lying third after two hours, but I drove over something and the front splitter broke, giving us a lot of vibration and understeer.

"The car was very low. So I had to do the whole of the last hour like that, and it was very difficult to drive, but it was very important for us to finish the race. I am pleased with the points, which is a much better result than Valencia."
