Andrea
Piccini tested the Dams team's Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT on Monday at the Le
Mans-Bugatti track.
This test session was scheduled by the French team to continue the car's
development and to prepare for the next round of the FIA GT championship in
Oschersleben this weekend.
The test's outcome was without doubt a
positive one. The team had a chance to fix some inevitable problems that such a
new car can have (it made its debut in Imola on September 5th).
The session also allowed Andrea to get more feeling out of the car and to
strengthen his relationship with his team. Compared to the last time set on this
same track on August 18,the Tuscan driver lowed his time by a second and a half.
Andrea Piccini commented, "The
Murcielago R-GT's development is non stop. Since the car was brought to us, in
mid- August, we have continuously worked to improve the car's performance and I
think that at the next round, we will see the results of this commitment.
"In the morning, we did some testing on a dry track and tried out different set
ups. But the rain in the afternoon changed our plans. I must say that on a wet
track, the Lamborghini did well. On the dry track, the car has made significant
progress compared to the debut race in Imola.
"I like the Oschersleben track and it usually brings me luck. In fact, I won on
this German track in the FIA GT championship in 2002.I'm very optimist about
this next round. We do know that there's a lot of work ahead of us but we can't
wait to back on track."
