06.03.2004 SECOND DAY OF TESTING FOR THE FIA GT RUNNERS AT MONZA

Uwe Alzen, in the Vitaphone Racing Team Saleen S7-R, set the overall fastest time during the two days of FIA GT testing at Monza, the final day taking place yesterday, Friday.

Monza will also host the first race of the 2004 FIA GT season later this month.

The German driver set a time of 1:43.988, just six hundredths of a second faster than Tommy Erdos in the RML Saleen. The BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari 550 Maranello of Fabrizio Gollin and Enzo Cappellari was third, with Tom Coronel fourth fastest in the Lister Storm, less than two tenths of a second slower than Alzen.

The top six cars were all within one second of each other, a result that promises close action when the FIA GT Championship gets underway on the 28th March.

The best N-GT time was a lap of 1:50.340 from the Yukos Freisinger Motorsport Porsche, followed by the Autorlando Sport Porsche.
