21.09.2004 JMB Racing USA scored its first GT-class podium finish during the 9th round of the Rolex Grand American Sports Car Series on Sunday, held at the Homestead-Miami Speedway

JMB Racing USA scored its first podium finish (3rd place in class) at the 9th round of the Rolex Sports Car Series on Sunday at the Homestead Miami Speedway in Florida.

The Ferrari 360 Modena GT no11 driven by Italian Maurizio Mediani and American Matt Plumb, had a problem free race.

“A week ago, we announced our intentions to finish on the podium”, stated team co-owner Ludovico Manfredi after the race. “We did it!  Thanks to the hard work of the whole team and our drivers, we were able to score a third place finish, our first ever podium in the Rolex Series”.

Despite the cancellation of the qualifying session due to Hurricanes Frances and Ivan, Mediani and Plumb had only one day to perfect their chassis for the race.

Plumb was selected by JMB’s engineers to take the start and for his first race with JMB Racing USA, he was able throughout the race to demonstrate his driving talents and validate the expectations the team placed on him before this event.

“It is a great result for the team and for me. I am just glad to have had the opportunity to be here. Finishing on the podium with only one hour worth of testing, straight out of the box, it says a lot for the team when you can put it together so quickly, it speak for itself.” Declared Matt Plumb after his first ever Rolex Series GT podium.

“I am very happy and I hope this result will signify good things for JMB Racing USA and myself and I hope the team will have me back pretty soon in the car” said Plumb.

After a 170 minute battle with the BMWs, Porsches and the Maserati, the JMB Racing USA Ferrari drivers managed to finish third in the GT class, an encouraging result for the young team and for next season. Italian Maurizio Mediani, winner of the inaugural Italian GT championship season opener, was also pleased with the result.

“I am very happy to score this first American podium for myself and also for the team because this is their first podium finish too” declared Mediani. “Matt is a very good teammate for me.

"He and I worked very well together and everything we did to the car before the race was going in the right direction and the car was very good in the race.  I want to thank the team for the good job they accomplished and I hope to come back soon and race again with JMB USA”.
