The Ferrari Maserati World Finals came to a close yesterday at the Monza circuit with a demonstration run by four Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro F2004, driven by Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello, Luca Badoer and Andrea Bertolini.

Once the run was over, Ferrari-Maserati Group President, Luca di Montezemolo, Managing Director of the Prancing Horse, Jean Todt and CEO of the Trident marque, Martin Leach and the entire team, acknowledged and thanked the crowd of around 40,000 who turned up on the day. Over 900 cars from the two marques, both road going and racing, attended the event.

Eighteen historic Formula 1 cars and five 333 SP, all run by the Maranello F1 Clienti department, as well as six world championship winning cars from ’99 to the present day preceded the F2004s on track.

The competitive element of the day saw the last races of the season in the championships reserved for cars of both marques. The highlight was the world final of the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy, which was won by Nicola Cadei (Rossocorsa).

He crossed the line ahead of Matteo Malucelli (Motor/Malucelli) and Fabio Santaniello (Team Maranello). Quinto Stefana (Rossocorsa) took the 'junior' world title in the Shell Cup category, for gentlemen drivers.

These are the drivers who were victorious in the individual series of the Ferrari Challenge 360: Italians, Malucelli and Stefana in the Italian Pirelli Trophy and Shell Cup respectively; France’s Ange Barde in the Europe Pirelli Trophy; England’s Oliver Morley in the Europe Shell Cup and Canada’s Emmanuel Anassis in the Pirelli Trophy USA.

The Trofeo Vodafone Maserati race was won by Alberto Cerrai, ahead of Sergio Rota and the crew of Notter/Cattori. This result meant that Andrea Palma, who finished fourth today, thus takes the title in the 2004 European edition of the Trident one-make series.

Also taking place today, the second run of races this weekend for the Shell Ferrari Maserati Historic Challenge.

Victories went to Englishman Tony Smith in his Ferrari 256 F1/FL in category 'A' for single-seaters; Thomas Bscher in a Maserati 450 S in the 'B' category for sports and GT cars fitted with drum brakes and another Englishman, Paul Knapfield, who took the 'C' category win, for cars with disc brakes, at the wheel of a Ferrari 512 BB LM.
