26.02.2004 EXPERIENCED FRENCH OUTFIT DAMS WILL RUN A PAIR OF CARE RACING FERRARI 550 MARANELLOS AT LE MANS |
An agreement has been finalised between CARE Racing Development and DAMS Racing for the operation of two GTS Ferrari 550 Maranellos at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. The two companies are joining forces under the banner of DAMS CARE Racing. The deal sees the return of the highly experienced Le Mans based DAMS team to the greatest endurance race in the world after an absence of a year. DAMS will take control of all aspects of the running of the team, including the technical operation of the cars for the 24 Hour event, testing and preparation. Engines and technical support will be provided by Prodrive. Dominique Falque, Director of Business Development for CARE Racing, expressed his pleasure at the conclusion of the negotiations: "I am delighted that we will be working with DAMS for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. They know absolutely what is required to compete in this race at the highest level, and we have every confidence in them and hope to see the two cars fighting in a great battle for class victory." Jean-Paul Driot , CEO of DAMS added, "We are very happy to work with CARE Racing. We recognise the contribution that CARE has made in the motorsport world, and the build of the cars by Prodrive is carried out at exactly the high level we would ask of ourselves. "Le Mans is a race that we are particularly fond of and taking part there with these cars is a very motivating challenge for the whole team. The Ferrari 550 Maranellos are strong and reliable, and the competition will be exciting as this year Corvette should be a serious threat. The GTS category looks to be more open than ever with a quality field the level of which has not been seen before." CARE Racing and DAMS are in contact with a number of drivers but no one has yet been confirmed. |
