14.08.2004 Larbre Competition's Ferrari 550 Maranello claimed its first LMES pole position yesterday as the French outfit bid to extend their GTS series lead in the Silverstone 1000kms today

Larbre Competitione Ferrari 550 Maranello at Silverstone during qualifying for today's LMES raceGTS class leaders, Larbre Competition, yesterday placed its Care Racing supported Ferrari 550 Maranello in pole position in the GTS class for this afternoon's Silverstone 1000kms. This is the team’s first class pole position of the series.

Pedro Lamy qualified the 6 litre, V12 engined car with a best time of 1m 48.355, set during the first of today’s two qualifying sessions.

Despite the Vitaphone Saleen shaving a tenth off its time this afternoon, it was not able to improve enough to knock the Larbre Ferrari off pole position.

All three drivers, Bouchut, Lamy and Zacchia, have taken the wheel today and together they have worked on obtaining a set up for the car with which they are all happy.

Pedro Lamy: “Well, it was quite a quick time but I think I could have done better as I had some traffic. Having said that, it wasn’t necessary to use a second set of tyres – we felt we had done enough.

"I’m quite happy with the car and we will see for tomorrow. We have a few small problems, like understeer in some areas, so we are going off to talk about these now.”
