At the same time
as the breathtaking Maserati MC12 makes its competitive racing debut in the FIA
GT Championship at Imola on Sunday, Michael Schumacher and the Maserati MC12
will be at the Nurburgring.
The organisers of 'Racing Days 2004' have confirmed that both Michael Schumacher and the
Maserati MC12 sportscar will be making an appearance.
The event will give the Scuderia Ferrari pilot an opportunity to appear in front
of the German public for the first time since he claimed the Formula One World
Championship at Spa in Belgium last weekend.
Schumacher, who has now lifted the crown for an incredible seventh time, will
demonstrate a Ferrari F2003-GA in front of what is expected to be a huge crowd of German
Ferrari and Maserati fans.
The event gets
underway on tomorrow, and the feature race is the fifth round of the Ferrari
Challenge Pirelli Trophy Europe. In the one make series for the 360 Modena
Challenge car, the current leader of the overall classification is France's Ange
Barde (Ferrari West Europe Organisation.)
The reigning champion has a 45 point lead over Ireland's Paddy Shovlin (Rossocorsa)
who is second. Englishman, Oliver Morley (Ferrari West Europe Organisation)
finds himself at the top of the leader board in the Shell Cup for gentlemen
drivers.
The three days at
the Nurburgring will include an exhibition by twelve Ferrari F1 Clienti cars.
Worthy of note, the 1971 ex-Jacky Ickx 312 B2 in the hands of Germany’s Michael
Willms and the ex-Clay Regazzoni 1975 312T, driven by Austrian, Leopold Hrobsky,
as well as four examples driven by Schumacher between 1996 and 2001.
