The
first round of European Alfa Challenge, the international series reserved for
the Alfa 147 GTA Cup racer, took place over the at the Italian circuit of Monza.
The six round series is supporting the LG Super Racing Weekend package this
season, and as well Monza, the drivers will race at Valencia, Magny Cours,
Hockenheim, Spa and Imola during the course of the year.
After two
exciting races, the first on Saturday, the second on Sunday, the overall
classification is led by two young drivers both under 25 years old. Dutchman
Rory Bertram, winner of race 1, and the Italian Simone Iacone, winner in race 2.
These drivers now lead the championship ahead of the more experienced Andrea
Larini who finished 7th in race 1 after he received a stop and go penalty for
jumping the start, but had a better time in race 2 where he finished second to
Simone Iacone.
The next
round of European Alfa Challenge will be held at Valencia in Spain, from 17 to
18 April.
