Alfa Romeo has just
collected 'The Design Award' for its new Brera sportscar in
Autocar magazine's Annual Awards presentation, held
on Monday evening in Central London. The prestigious prize,
part of Autocar's annual tribute to outstanding
achievements of the automotive industry and the people who
work in it, was presented to the Brera's designer, Giorgetto
Giugiaro, together with head of Centro Stile Alfa Romeo,
Wolfgang Egger, during the awards ceremony.
Commenting on its
choice, Autocar describes the new Brera as "an
imposing coupe with rare grace. It creates impact through
the quality of its lines and proportions rather than visual
gimmicks. The style is carried through into the cabin where
a sporting mix of materials and shapes creates a real
driver-focused feel. It's the sort of car you just want to
get in and drive".

The stunning new
Alfa Romeo Brera was officially launch to the world's press
at Fiat Auto's Balocco facility earlier this month.
Initially to be made available with either a 2.2-litre JTS
or 3.2litre V6 engine, the latter with four wheel drive
traction, the new sportscar will be quickly rolled out
across Europe at the beginning of 2006.
