There is only
one Enzo Ferrari supercar in Malaysia at present, and it
will waiting to take ‘passengers’ for a taxi ride at the
Sepang International Circuit on Sunday (January 16) for the
Racers United in Aid of Tsunami Fund campaign.
Courtesy of G1 Symphony Racing, the team will also be
providing its two Porsche GT3 racing cars, and a pair of
Lamborghini sportscars, for this unique circuit experience
around the 5.543-km F1 track.
“We will be putting passenger seats into the race cars and
naturally, our drivers will be going at racing speed to give
the passengers a true racing experience,” commented team
leader Chin Jit Pyng, who is also the owner of the six-litre
V12 Enzo Ferrari.
“The Enzo is a limited edition and is the one and only
available in Malaysia, and I am very fortunate to have it.
It will be a pleasure to have the kind donors experience the
drive around the circuit,” said the businessman-cum-racing
driver.
With 660bhp on tap and a top speed of 350km/h, the Enzo
Ferrari supecar needs just 3.2 seconds to get from a speed
of zero to 100km/h.
To qualify for the taxi ride, passengers will have to make a
minimum donation of RM50 to the Tsunami Disaster Fund at the
circuit. The top nine highest donors will get a unique
opportunity of being chauffeured around the circuit by
former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in his Porsche
Cayanne.
Chin added that the Porsche GT3 race cars will be driven by
Eric Yeo and Firhat Mokhzani, who were the overall winners
of the 2003 Merdeka Millennium Endurance race with Chin’s
son, Tzer Chin.

Malaysian Super Series supercar champion Adam Azman will be
driving his 5.0-litre V10-engined Lamborghini Gallardo for
the taxi ride, while Aminuddin Omar will be at the wheel of
his Porsche GT3 racing car and Chin Tzer Pinn in another
Lamborghini, this time though a Murcielago.
“It’s going to be an exciting event because I am made to
understand that there are going to be other amazing cars as
well, to be used for the taxi ride. More importantly, we are
doing all this for charity,” he said.
Apart from the machines provided by the G1 Symphony Racing
Team, Amprex Motorsports are also attending the
extravaganza, and will be providing their Japan GT
Championship regular Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT racing
machine. Like the two Porsche GT cars, the Lamborghini
sportscar will be fitted with a passenger seat for the taxi
ride.
The Racers United in Aid of the Tsunami Fund campaign is
actually, in effect, an much-extended Sunday Track Day
programme where bikers will get to use the track for the
morning session from 9am, with the drivers then taking their
turns in the afternoon session, running from 2pm.
In between these two events, there are to be a series of
special activities which will including guided tour around
the track, circuit experience, skill driving and lucky draws
for the participants, apart from the taxi rides. A special
drift challenge, simulator games, and motorcycle wheelie
demonstrations, will also be organised at the car park area
as part of the programme.
Malaysia’s top racers like Karamjit Singh, Alex Yoong,
Shahrol Yuzy, Jimmy Low and Ron Lim are to attend this
event, which is open to members of the public. |
