Fresh from its
unveiling at the Australian International Motor Show in
Sydney last week, the ultimate open top car, the Ferrari
Superamerica, is now officially on sale in Australia and New
Zealand.
But if you don't have your name down already for this
remarkable 320 km/h V12 powered supercar, you will have to
move with great speed to your Ferrari dealer as just six
Ferrari Superamericas from the total global production of
500 will come to Australia, while New Zealand will get two.
With a recommended retail price of AUS$648,000, the
Superamerica is the latest in a long line of ultimate
Ferraris, offering a unique blend of style, technology and
performance.
"The Superamerica is the classic Ferrari sportscar,"
explains Kevin Wall, General Manager for Ferrari in New
Zealand. "It has the traditional layout of a front mounted
V12 engine punching out 397 kW to the road via the rear
wheels. But this does not mean there is anything traditional
about how it performs, unless of course you are talking
about the Ferrari tradition of shattering performance! How
else can you describe the ability to dispatch the sprint to
100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and rocketing on to a top speed -
where the law permits, of course - of 320 km/h?"

"But the Superamerica is much more than this dramatic
performance. It is also a remarkably docile car - when you
want or need it to be - that can swallow distances
effortlessly. And then there is the roof. Of course it
offers the choice of open or closed and it can go from one
to the other in just ten seconds. But it can also, thanks to
the latest electrochromic glass technology, offer any amount
of sunshine, from less then one per cent of the sun to 95
per cent and anything in between," explains Mr Wall.
The Revocromico roof is surrounded by extensive use of
carbon fibre for strength and to maintain the Superamerica's
weight balance, so as to ensure it swallows corners as
effortlessly as it does kilometers. Inside the Superamerica
has a wealth of luxury features, proving that performance
does not mean a lack of creature comforts. With every car
built to the specific personal requirements of its owner,
each Superamerica is not just part of a limited edition, it
can also be said to be unique in its own right.
