Fiat Auto's Turkish car
manufacturing partner Tofaş, has signed a deal with the Opet fuel
company that will see new Fiat and Alfa Romeo cars covered
by an Opet 'fuel guarantee'.
Turkey doesn't
impose fuel quality standards on its domestic petrol or diesel suppliers,
and due to this perceived void, Tofaş Commercial Direct
Müfit Ataseven said the carmaker, Turkey's largest, had been
anxious for sometime to enter into this new agreement.
Along with Opet
General Manager Yavuz Erkut, Ataseven announced the new
'fuel insurance' at a press conference held yesterday. Under
the
terms of the deal, Opet will be responsible for all expenses incurred for
any breakdown that relates to the fuel system, provided that
the fuel in question has been purchased at one of Opet's
nationwide chain of petrol stations. The
guarantee comes into effect today, and will run until the
end of the warrantee period offered on the sale of all new
Fiat and Alfa Romeos forthwith.
Opet Petroleum
Ltd was founded in 1992, and over the last decade has boomed
as the company focuses on the strategic goal of becoming an
international oil company.
Today,
Opet is 50 percent shared with
the Koç Holding Energy Group since the end of the year
2002, and it functions in the fuel oil distribution sector with its two brand
names, Opet and Sunpet, now boasting more than 1000 stations. Opet, since its
foundation, has concentrated on substructure investments. Its existing
three terminals (Körfez, Aliağa, Mersin) have a storage capacity of 330,000
cubic meters, giving them Turkey's second largest
storage capacity. With the completion of Marmara Ereğlisi terminal, which
is still under construction, Opet will offer the largest storage capacity of the
country. |
