The Maserati Quattroporte, flagship saloon of the Trident Marque, was the car of choice for Sophia Loren to attend the ceremony in which she was appointed Honorary Citizen of Pozzuoli, the small town near Naples where she grew up.

The elegance and style of the Maserati Quattroporte accompanied the famous actress to the ceremony where she was presented with the keys to the town by the Mayor and local authorities. The ceremony took place at Pozzuoli's Palazzo Migliaresi.

In the evening, the President of Campania (the region of Naples and Pozzuoli), Antonio Bassolino, awarded Sophia Loren with the "Premio Civitas", for her efforts to promote Pozzuoli throughout the world. A symbol of seduction, class and pure Italian style, the Maserati Quattroporte has progressively become the car of choice for Italian and international movie stars, heads of state and sporting celebrities.

The Maserati Quattroporte's sales success has been confirmed by the numerous international awards the super-luxury sedan has received, and commercially, its distribution across the world is now complete. Projections for 2005 are for an 80% increase on the 1,900 Quattroporte registered in 2004. Data from the markets in which the Quattroporte appeared at the end of last year confirms this success. Comparing the January-May 2004 period with the same months in 2005, North America has shown a 122% increase, Japan 147%, and Asia, Oceania and South America showed a combined growth of 180%.
