Monferino has been Chief Executive of CNH for the last five years, based in the United States, and has been an executive within the Fiat Group for the last 30 years.

He is replacing José Maria Alapont who held the Chief Executive's position since October 2003, and who is now leaving the Group to join Federal Mogul.

"I am thankful for the extraordinary effort that Mr. Alapont has provided in bringing Iveco back as a strong and viable player in the truck market" said Sergio Marchionne, Chief Executive of Fiat Group. "We wish him the utmost success in his new engagement".

"I am also delighted that we have been able to rely on the seasoned experience of someone like Paolo Monferino to take Iveco to the next phase of development.

Fiat has just announced the appointment of Paolo Monferino to the position of CEO of its Iveco trucks to buses division

"He has done an outstanding job in integrating Case and New Holland after their merger in 1999, and his broad international background will allow Iveco to push on and become a much more powerful force in the truck market," Marchionne concluded.

The Board of Directors of CNH met yesterday in Chicago and appointed Harold Boyanovski as interim Chief Executive. He has almost forty years of experience in both the construction and agricultural sides of the CNH business and will provide a great level of continuity in the management of CNH.

A search is being carried out to find a permanent replacement. Paolo Monferino will remain on the Board of CNH to help guide the development of the business.
