The very
mysterious Project 1221 released further sketchy details of
their new MF1 supercar today, confirming that it will be a 'Berlinetta',
which will be used on the Paris-Dakar, at Le Mans and a
speed record run.
Little further
opinion can really be formed about this project though,
which is headed by the famous former Ferrari Formula One
Chief Engineer, Mauro Forghieri. Their press release is as
follows:
"We keep
receiving requests for more information regarding the
specification and looks of the MF1. The scarcity of
the information that has been released so far curiously has
a dual effect: Most exponents of the media tend to be
annoyed while all simple enthusiasts and prospective owners
tend to be inspired.
"It should be noted that, as part of the game, the MF1
would be presented only after the preliminary order of
precedence is established. To enlist or not to enlist will
simply be a matter of following one's inner voice.
"In the meantime, in line with our stated wish to offer a
fair and accessible chance to "all", there will be no
"previews" for the "privileged few" nor "leaks" to selected
exponents of the media. All our prospective customers are,
by definition, the privileged few.
"After all we are dealing with a superfluous albeit
beautiful and functional object, which is a luxury in
itself. At the same time we are dealing with a commodity,
both in its intangible and tangible manifestations, which
only makes things livelier.
"Of course after the unveiling of the MF1 the
powers of the marketplace will inevitably take over. In the
end some people will drive excitedly away, others will go
laughing to the bank and obviously more than one might for a
while feel a bit depressed either for losing the opportunity
to own an exceptional and exceptionally rare motor-car or
for having spent more money than necessary. It is only a
game.
"Presently it can be anticipated that the MF1 is in
fact a neat berlinetta with a remarkably low centre of
gravity, agility on any kind of road being a priority.
Another characteristic of the MF1 is its unique
diesel-like range (indeed a luxury) afforded by the rather
huge fuel tank. |
