Project 1221,
who are creating a new, ground-breaking Italian supercar,
led by former Scuderia Ferrari engineering boss Mauro
Forghieri, have offered their latest update.
As has been Project 1221's method since the beginning of the year,
each month they have publicly 'drip fed' small amounts of
information, focusing on different areas of the car and
updating ordering details, as well as pricing. Last month
their revealed an innovative steering system, while other
areas previously touched upon include power, design,
construction and luggage capability.
Project 1221
introduce their programme by saying that, "The MF1, the
first product, is a limited-production
luxury / super car by Ing. Mauro Forghieri, legendary
former head of Scuderia Ferrari's Reparto Corse,
Lamborghini Engineering and Bugatti Automobili," adding
that, "It is bound to become the fastest production car
in the world."

Update: JUNE 2005
"The previously mentioned five-digit power band of the
MF1 has apparently incited the assumption that this
would inevitably result in a machine in need of rather
frequent overhauls, if not complete rebuilds. This might be
true in the case of a "usual" supercar but Project 1221
did not set out to build just another supercar.

Modena-based Oral engineering is Project 1221's strategic
engineering parter. Oral, founded in 1996 by Sergio
Lugli, counts Mauro Forghieri as its Commercial and
Technical Director, while the link with his famous
Scuderia Ferrari past is amply demonstrated by this
F1 car which is on
display. |

"There has also been speculation that '1221' might be a hint
to the power output, which is not the case. In fact, the
power of the MF1 is even higher than that.
"Beyond constituting a symbolic proclamation of freedom,
this amount of power guarantees that even with the highest -
and the heaviest - level of optional armoured protection the
MF1 will be able to accelerate at least as hard as
any other supercar. Combining tremendous performance
potential with full-proof reliability and carefree
maintenance the MF1 will be a refreshing ownership
proposition, indeed unique among its 'peers'.
"The regular
price of the MF1 subsequently to its unveiling is
now set at €675 000." The news update, posted on their
website concludes finally, "Those units that will have been instead
previously reserved will exceptionally benefit from a frozen
price of €575 000. |
