The President of
Ferrari, Luca di Montezemolo, addressed the media present at
Mugello to cover the Ferrari World Finals 2005. "It is a day
to celebrate", declared the president. "This is both for the
economic and commercial results reached this year. We are in
line to beat the all time Ferrari sales records and, at the
same time, opening in many important markets. We have never
sold as much in the USA as we have in 2005".
Alongside Montezemolo in the Press Room at the International
Autodrome of Mugello were the Scuderia drivers,
Vice-President Piero Ferrari and Fiat's Vice-President John
Elkann. Montezemolo thanked Rubens Barrichello for the
crucial job he has done since the Brazilian arrived at
Ferrari in 2000. "I have special memories of the three races
that meant a lot for this company: Germany in 2000, when he
won from the back of the field; Monza in 2002 among the
crowds and last year in China. Rubens has always been a
fundamental part of the Ferrari family. Michael has always
been on the front line", continued Montezemolo, turning to
Schumacher, "and has proved that we are a real team that
remains tightly knit even in trying times".
He concluded by reflecting on the future of Formula 1 and
Ferrari's chances next year. "I don't like the regulations.
They are dangerous as regards the tyres and this has been
seen often this year. In the interests of the sport, safety
and respect for the public, I hope that new rules that are
more in line with the spirit of F1 come along. I would like
to compliment Renault, Fernando Alonso and Flavio Briatore
for a great and merited victory. What has happened has
already been forgotten as the challenge is the only thing in
our DNA.

Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo addressed the

Ferrari World Finals |

"We feel the great enthusiasm and enormous affection
of our fans but it is clear that they would prefer
to see Ferrari winning" said Jean Todt during the
World Finals 2005 today |

"We will fight to get back to the top with the support of
our suppliers in a Formula 1 that has put tyres at the
centre of everything. The winless period has gone on for too
long for our liking," concluded di Montezemolo.
Then it was the turn of Ferrari's Direttore Generale, Jean
Todt, to greet the media at the Mugello circuit who had
gathered for the 2005 Ferrari World Finals. "It as always a
pleasure to greet Ferrari's friends at an event like the
World Finals", began Todt. This year is a little different
as we are celebrating with the Clienti meeting the Scuderia,
one that this year could not do better than third place in
the World Constructors' and the Drivers' championships.
There have been many special moments here over the past few
days: the presentation of the FXX, of which there will be 29
examples built. There has also been the parade of sixty
Enzos and the first public contact between the clients and
the F430 Challenge that will run in its own series next
year. Lastly, we have announced our sporting programme for
2006 with the F430 GT2. Obviously, we are here to celebrate
with the people who participate in our championship. It has
been an important year as we have, among other things,
strengthened our technical certification programme for our
Clienti Sport vehicles. We feel the great enthusiasm and
enormous affection of our fans but it is clear that they
would prefer to see Ferrari winning. This company has made
motor-racing history down the years and its fans will
support it even in difficult times".
