24.06.2005 Ferrari fans at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed will see a Superamerica, an F430 and a 612 Scaglietti driven up the 'Hill'

Ferrari tifosi at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, which starts today, will gather to admire the current masterpieces from Maranello when a Ferrari Superamerica, an F430 in Fiorano Ferrari livery and a 612 Scaglietti will be driven up Goodwood Hill by professional racing drivers and members of the UK media.

The latest addition to the Ferrari stable, the limited-edition 12-cylinder convertible Superamerica will take part in the Supercar run. Just 559 examples of the Superamerica will be built featuring the Revocromico roof, with variable transparency and which can fold back in less than 10 seconds. The Superamerica punches out 540bhp and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds. It will be driven up the Hill on all three days.

The F430 is the latest addition to the new generation of Ferrari V8-engined sports cars. Introduced to widespread acclaim in the halls of the Paris Mondial de l'Automobile last autumn, it will be taking part in the 'Supercar' category's climbs up the famous 'Hill'.

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti (seen here at the Goodwood festival in 2004) will again be taking part in the 'Supercar' run

The F430 boasts the electronic differential (E-Diff) initially developed by Ferrari for its F1 single-seaters and the handily placed ‘manettino’ a steering wheel-mounted rotary switch which directly controls the integrated systems governing vehicle dynamics. The F430 will appear at Goodwood in Fiorano Ferrari livery, the exclusive driving programme open only to Ferrari clients. With 490 hp available it is capable of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in 4 seconds flat and reaches a top speed in excess of 196 mph.

The all-aluminium 612 Scaglietti with its outstandingly luxurious cabin can accommodate four adults in complete comfort.  Served by a beautiful V12 engine providing 540 hp, it has a top speed of 199 mph and computerised electronic stability and traction control (CST).

The Ferrari Formula One team will be represented by F1 test driver Marc Gené, who will be driving a Ferrari F2003-GA up Goodwood Hill.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is a unique celebration of automotive passion and a spectacular snapshot of the history of motor sport. It was the 9th Duke of Richmond who first brought motor sport to Goodwood when, in 1936, he staged a private hillclimb in the park for the Lancia Car Club. These early events were the inspiration for the present Earl of March to bring motor sport back to Goodwood with the Festival of Speed. This year the Festival focuses on “Racing Colours – National Pride and Culture”, celebrating the essence of different countries’ sporting passions.
