Lancia has
created a stand in Bologna of great visual impact that is exactly in
step with the youthful and dynamic spirit of the Motor Show,
a place that combines Italian style with innovation. The
emphasis is on the two-tone livery that has always been a feature
of Lancia models, which sets the scene for the entire exhibition area. The space is
arranged on a main platform with a lively black and white
inlaid flooring. A white wall (embellished with black stylised
motifs) acts as a backdrop to the whole of the stand. The two-toned
theme of the area sets up a particular play of colour that
works well with typical brand motifs such as the great
curved wall and the winding shapes of the platforms. The
Lancia stand contains a throbbing heart set into the middle
of the curved wall like a jewel: a composition made up of
two glazed areas and a great LED screen where entertainment
events, theme parties and DJ sets can be enjoyed during
public open days.
The absolute
star of the stand is the Lancia Ypsilon MomoDesign, a new
beefier-looking version of the Ypsilon that is also very
trendy. It was created jointly by Lancia and the MomoDesign
Style Centre, which share innovation in design, the use of
cutting-edge materials and attention to detail. That is why
in this new version of the Ypsilon the sporty look is
emphasised together with the refined elegance that has
always distinguished Lancia models.
Visitors to the
Bologna show can admire three examples in different
body-colours that enhance their dynamic look. The chosen
colour combination is absolutely original. This version
marks the first appearance on a large-scale production
vehicle of the matte metallic black shade on the tailgate,
roof and pillars, combined on the first vehicle with Orange,
on the second with Red and on the third with Black (all
non-metallic shades). Stunning Glamour
cloth has been used to trim the seats. The colour chosen for
the side strips is black combined with orange, red and
magnesium on the seat area depending on the exterior shade.
The seats also feature distinctive silver top-stitching with
double rivets. The extremely opulent range of creature
comforts on the three cars includes a manual climate control
system with pollen filter, dual drive power steering, sporty
15” alloys, radio with CD and MP3 player (the latter is an
option), ABS with EBD, 4 airbags and a foglight. Other major
content items are also present: steering wheel adjustable
for height and reach; fold-down, tilting back seats;
height-adjustable front seat (driver side); trip computer;
two body-coloured door mirrors; front electric windows;
195/55 tyres; follow me home lights; steering wheel and gear
knob in perforated leather with silver top-stitching. The red and
orange Lancia Ypsilon MomoDesign cars are also equipped with
a 70 bhp 1.3 16v mjt engine while the black car is powered
by an 80 bhp 1.2 16v power unit.
Another high
point of the stand is the Musa Platino+, which
takes the form of a deluxe compact MPV with two-tone
bodywork, equipment worthy of a true flagship and special
leather interiors with contrast piping as standard. More
specifically, the Musa Platino+ is displayed with
a 100 bhp 1.9 Multijet engine and an attractive Angelico
Blue and Caravaggio Brown livery while the interiors are
trimmed in Wenghe Brown leather with Ivory top-stitching and
piping. The equipment list is startlingly good value and as
good as anything else in this category. Examples include a
dual zone automatic climate control system, map and
pictogram satellite navigation system with GSM phone,
handsfree set, CD and MP3 file player, GranLuce electric
sunroof, parking sensors, foglight and 16” two-tone wheels.
The vehicle also boasts the most sophisticated systems and
devices available in the safety field: ABS with EBD, 4
airbags, ESP, ASR and Hill Holder.

Show-goers will also be able to see three Lancia show-cars that offer a
glimpse of the main motifs and content available on the
three new versions that are about to go into production. First of all,
the Lancia Ypsilon Platino+ that is designed in
the same spirit as the Musa Platino+, offering a
peerless level of equipment and stylistic sophistication
within its segment. It adds the distinctive elegance of a
two-tone body and an extra selection of features to the
already very opulent Platino specification.
The vehicle on
show is identifiable by its sophisticated livery, which
combines Vasari Pearl and Caravaggio Brown. This timeless
colour match is mirrored in the lounge-like interior where
visitors can enjoy an exclusive dark brown leather trim with
a youthful up-to-date embossed pattern that is gratifyingly
substantial to the touch. The final result is a crisp new
colour contrast that is quite simply irresistible. When
equipped with the 70 bhp 1.3 16v Multijet, the Lancia
Ypsilon Platino+ is a shining example of our
perennial desire to experiment, a tradition that has yielded
genuine four-wheeled works of art that have played a vital
part in developing Italian car design. Visitors to the show
will also be able to admire a host of features worthy of a
true flagship including 4 airbags, ABS with EBD, foglight,
dual zone automatic climate control, Bose Hi-Fi system,
stylish 16” alloy wheels, cruise control, leather steering
wheel and gear knob, radio controls on the steering wheel,
radio with CD and MP3 file player, parking sensors and a
GranLuce sunroof.
The second
show-car on view in Bologna is a special Ypsilon that will
certainly win the hearts of younger visitors. It features a
black body with the image of a target on its roof done in
cooperation with 3M: this first custom version is merely the
prelude to a veritable collection of customised Ypsilons.
This original
Ypsilon with its strong personality and unmistakable
individuality is fitted with a vivacious 70 bhp 1.3 16v
Multijet engine and offers interiors in Glamour cloth in
black and Magnesium colourways plus an equipment list that
represents great value for money including a manual climate
control system with pollen filter, Dualdrive electric power
steering, ABS with EBD, 4 airbags, foglight and radio with
CD player.
One last
show-car can also be admired on the stand in Bologna: a
Thesis which combines sportiness and elegance within unique
and exclusive styling. On the outside, the vehicle features
a two-tone body: an Opaque Cast Iron Grey roof sets off the
Kyalami Black used on the rest of the body in a very
sophisticated match that emphasises the shape of Lancia’s
flagship. This particular show-car is given an even sportier
look by 18” alloy wheels in an eye-catching spoked design.
The same look continues inside, in the form of a Frau red
leather trim with coordinated finish.
This original
Thesis ideally embodies the spirit of the Lancia flagship, a
luxury car that attracts élite motorists with its style and
cutting-edge technology. This specific segment includes a
select number of cars that have been chosen by the biggest
manufacturers to showcase the cream of present-day in-car
technology. The show-car is equipped with a powerful 2.4
Multijet 20 valve engine that, when combined with a five
speed sequential self-adapted automatic transmission,
develops a power of 185 bhp at 4000 rpm and a torque of 330
Nm at 1500 rpm. When driven by this power unit, the vehicle
reaches a top speed of 225 km/h and accelerates from 0-100
km/h in 10.2 seconds.
The example shown on the Lancia stand naturally offers all
the innate attributes of the Thesis model: an extremely long
list of standard safety features (ABS with EBD, ESP
complemented by ASR, 8 airbags), a luxurious, roomy and
protective passenger compartment containing high-calibre
equipment including a sophisticated Connect Nav+
Infotelematic system, a Bose Hi-Fi system, a multizone
automatic climate control system and comfort front seats
(ventilated, heated, adaptive with backrest/cushion massage)
that represent the current state-of-the-art as far as
comfort and ergonomics are concerned.
Other features include an anti-lift volume-sensing antitheft
system with alarm, TV and parking sensors.
