15.09.2005 Maserati launched the GranSport Spyder, the open-top version of its range topping GranSport Coupe, at the Frankfurt International Motor Show on Tuesday

Maserati has launched the new GranSport Spyder model - the open-top version of its powerful, range topping GranSport Coupe - at the Frankfurt International Motor Show on Tuesday morning. It instantly combines the thrilling driving expericence and excellent performance that are associated with the GranSport Coupé with the pleasures of roof-down motoring.

Since its introduction the 400bhp 'extreme' GranSport - with its increased power, higher top gear ratios, and visually strong new body styling kit - has quickly become a highly popular member of the familiar Coupé and Spyder range, and so the Maserati marque are now looking to cash in on this customer interest and so have extended this option to the Spyder range.

The Maserati GransSport Spyder thus shares all the styling, engine and chassis modifications that have lifted the GranSport to the top of its class.

This includes the 4.2 litre V8 engine that delivers 400bhp accompanied by a deep, full sound that is all the more enjoyable with the roof down, 19 inch alloys that rest at the end of up-rated suspension and styling that has been made more aggressive on the outside and, with Bright Tex fabric, cutting-edge inside.

The single metallic-painted GranSport Spyder being shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show sits angle at the apex of the Maserati stand, emphasising the importance the Modena sportscar maker are attaching to this new model introduction. Also debuting on the Trident stand at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week are two new versions of the remarkable Quattroporte, the Executive GT and Sport GT, which offer new levels of luxury and performance respectively.
