By the time he introduced the new Alfa 159 and Brera every
space was packed, and we all knew that we were witnessing
the start of a glorious new era in the long history of the
'sporty' Italian brand.
For more than
twenty years now Autodelta have staked their claim to being
the world's foremost Alfa tuner, dedicated to
wringing the very last drop of power out of Alfa Romeos, and
typically, Jano was caught up by the excitement of the
Geneva event. "The Alfa 159 and Brera are both absolutely
stunning in the flesh," he commented, adding "they are even
better than I had been expecting. I cannot wait to get my
hands on these cars!"
"I was highly
impressed by Kalbfell's speech, it was very well thought
out, laid a clear and precise forward-looking vision, and
was also importantly full of confidence. It would seem that
on first impressions that he is going to be the right man to
take Alfa onwards, and with Luca di Montezemolo pulling off
the covers it showed there is real commitment to Alfa on
Fiat's part," Jano added. "The Brera is
simply beautiful. I have always been a huge fan of Giorgetto
Giugiaro's abilities, but this time he's really outdone
himself! Everything is just right, it's gorgeous, at the
same time it's wildly aggressive, it's proud, and it imposes
itself, just look at its stance and width, and the lines are
fantastic!"
We then ask him
for his thoughts on the new Alfa 159. "It's another gem," Jano comments, adding "it takes Alfa forward firmly into BMW
territory with a real, genuine contender. Build quality
looks to be very good...it just oozes prestige and class.
They will have a real winner on their hands."
We turn to
Autodelta's presence at the famous Geneva Salon, where the
new 320bhp Autodelta GT 3.2 Super is being presented on a
stand being shared by their Italian exhaust development
partner Raggazzon, and alloy wheel manufacturer, Alessio.
"Geneva 2005 is
an important event for us this year, as it marks the
international debut of the GT Super, while at the same time
we have announced a new Swiss importer," comments Jano. "B+K
Automobile AG very much share our vision and are just the
right people to take the Autodelta brand forward in
Switzerland."
Finally, he tells us that the Autodelta 147 3.7 GTA AM,
dubbed by Jeremy Clarkson no less, the 'world's hottest
hatch', is about to become "more powerful...in fact much
more powerful". It seems Autodelta are still doing what they
do best, just wait until the get hold of the new Alfa 159
and Brera!
