The Tokyo
International Motor Show, which opens later this month, will
see the public unveiling of a new Giorgetto
Giugiaro-designed, Ferrari-based concept sportscar. Little
is know about this new concept except that it is based on
the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, and has been created to
celebrate Giugiaro 50th anniversary as a car designer. The
news regarding the concept sportscar (to be known as the
Ferrari GG50) became known from a press release issued by
giant Japanese tyre manufacturer Bridgestone, who will host
the show car on their stand during the Tokyo show.
"Bridgestone Corporation announced today that its flagship
tires, Potnza RE050, which are supplied globally, will be
fitted onto the Ferrari GG50 concept car designed by
world-renowned industrial designer Giorgetto Giugiaro," said
Bridgestone in a statement they issued today. "The Potenza
RE050 enables superior handling, while an emphasis on
comfort produces a quiet driving experience. Bridgestone has
already supplied Potenza tyres to a variety of new
high-performance cars. They have also been employed in some
of Ferrari's flagship models, namely the 612 Scaglietti,
Enzo Ferrari and Superamerica. The Ferrari GG50 was designed
by Giugiaro to celebrate his 50th year engaged in industrial
design. The concept model, based on the Ferrari 612
Scaglietti, is the only one of its kind in the world and is
not intended for production or sale.

feature runflat capability, and are of size 245/35R20 on the
front wheels and 305/35R20 on the rear wheels. Bridgestone's
proven record and high reliability amassed over the years
among car makers such as Ferrari was the catalyst for
bringing this plan into fruition.
"The Ferrari GG50 is planned for display at the Bridgestone
booth at the 39th Tokyo Motor Show beginning on October 22
as the flagship model expressing the global nature of the
Potenza RE050," the statement from Bridgestone concluded.
