The FIAT
Rally Team - Ted Racing - has just won an amazing
ninth consecutive Brazilian National Rally Championship
title. Pilot Luís Tedesco, driving the Ted Racing Fiat Palio in the A6 category, sealed the
2005 title after scooping
enough points on the XIII Rallye Cidade de Ouro Branco, held
in the Minas Gerais State last Sunday (18th September).
Finishing
in a strong second place on this event was enough to
guarantee Tedesco (accompanied by co-driver Kz Morales) his
thirteenth rally title. “I wasn’t expecting it to happen in
here. For sure it was a great surprise and we’re celebrating,”
said
Tedesco, who has taken four victories in 2005.
This title also has a
special meaning for FIAT Rally, because it was obtained in
the Minas Gerais State, where the FIAT factory is located.
“This is a really exciting place for a rally. The people
here love it and we have many fans around. It couldn’t be a
better place to make this dream become real!” said Tedesco,
who went on to express his gratitude to the team and its
sponsors.
The co-pilot Kz Morales
joined Tedesco at Ted Racing this year, and it has been a
dream debut as he has now won his first national title.
“It’s been twenty one years of work to make it! It’s
wonderful! I was sick of the second place!” said Morales.
The FIAT Rally team's supremacy is also close to being
confirmed in the hotly-contested N2 category. The
Rallye
Cidade de Ouro Branco
saw Reinaldo Varela and Ivan Bertagna - also driving a Palio
- winning their class
for the fifth time this year, and the duo are now just a few
points short of claiming the title. “The party today is from
all of us, but we hope to celebrate another title very
soon!” said Varela who cements his lead of the N2 category,
and is looking forward to grabbing his fourth national title. |
