Ferrari Team
UK's Peter Sowerby made it a fantastic two wins from two
races in the European Ferrari 360 Challenge Trofeo Pirelli
at Silverstone over the weekend. Out-qualifying several of
the quicker Trofeo Pirelli drivers, Peter managed to stay
ahead of the Coppa Shell drivers despite having to carry an
extra 25kgs of success ballast in Race 2 following his class
win in Race 1 on Saturday, and he now leads the Coppa Shell
driver's standings with 70 points.

In front of thirty thousand spectators, Ireland's Michael
Cullen took overall victory in the one-make series for the
360 Modena cars, while Britain's Peter Sowerby was
victorious in the Shell Cup for gentlemen drivers.
At the same time, at the Pau street circuit in France, the
Shell Ferrari Maserati Historic Challenge for historic cars
season got underway. Victory in the various categories in
this opening round went to Brazil's Carlos Monteverde (1964
Ferrari 250 LM), Belgium's Vincent Gaye (1960 Ferrari 250 GT
B.p.c.), Englishman Tony Smith (1960 Ferrari 256 F1/FL),
France's Olivier Cazalieres (1972 Ferrari 365 GTB4 Comp.)
and Germany's Stefan Schollwoeck (1937 Maserati 6CM).
In the second Pirelli Trophy race at Silverstone, Ireland's
Paddy Shovlin was runner-up, crossing the line ahead of
Austria's Karl Barron. In the Shell Cup, behind winner
Sowerby, who thus repeated his Saturday performance, came
the German Freddy Kremer and the Monegasque Philippe Prette.
The next round of the European Ferrari Challenge takes place
at the end of June at Spa-Francorchamps.
The same Belgian track will see the Shell Ferrari Maserati
Historic Challenge back in action, having provided the usual
exciting racing at Pau, which was partly down to the wet
weather.
There are thirty Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge cars competing
in the European series of the Ferrari 360 Challenge Trofeo
Pirelli. The top drivers compete in the 'Trofeo Pirelli',
with 11 drivers currently competing in this category. The
remaining 19 gentleman drivers compete in the 'Coppa Shell'
category and the top drivers in this category at the end of
the year are elevated to compete in the Trofeo Pirelli
category. This year's Ferrari Challenge races run to an
endurance type formula with each race lasting 50 minutes,
including a compulsory pit stop which lasts for a set
minimum time. This allows for cars to be driven by a single
driver or a crew of two.
Peter Sowerby now leads the Coppa Shell driver's standings
with 70 points, giving him an 11 point lead. Ferrari Team UK are now 5th in the Importer's
Trophy.
