German team
B-Racing RS Line is planning to enter a 2006 specification
version of the Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT in the European
based rounds of next year's FIA GT Championship. “Thanks to
the engagement of main sponsor Neue Medien Münnich the team will be able to rise to the top
class of sportscar endurance racing,” the team explained.
German-based Reiter Engineering - who have built and
developed the Murciélago R-GT project - will be supplying
the car for the team, which also has ambitious plans to
enter the Le Mans Endurance Series (LMES), as well as the 24
Hours of Le Mans. Logistics will be provided by RS-Line Race
Support. The first driver of the team has been named as
Austro-American Norbert Walchhofer. The multiple
Ferrari-Challenge Champion will integrate his sponsorship
package into the new team. The team's first test with the
Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT took place at the Adria Raceway
in Italy, on December 20th.
The Reiter Engineering GT1-class Murciélago R-GT made
sporadic appearances in the FIA GT Championship this year,
mostly in the hands of German pilot Norman Simon (who
previously drove the Amprex Motorsports Murciélago R-GT in
the Japanese GT Championship last years) and Dutchman Peter
Kox (who has closely been involved in the development of the
project since its inception).

The pair R-GT qualified in an excellent seventh place at the
season opener in Monza, before retiring after 28 laps. At
Magny-Cours during the second round of the series, Kox again
qualified in seventh place and ran strongly early on before
gearbox problems intervened. The next appearance for the
Reiter R-GT came at Brno where ex-F1 driver Gianni
Morbidelli joined Peter Kox in the cockpit. After qualifying
on the third row of the grid the black car was punted out of
the race at the start after it collected a spinning
Corvette.
On Reiter's home turf at Oschersleben for round seven of the
FIA GT series, and their last appearance of the season, the
German team finally notched up their first finish of the
year, Simon - now back with the team - and Kox, finishing
the 3-hour FIA GT race in eighth place, after having
qualified in eleventh.
