Gabriele Gardel and Pedro Lamy took a fine win in Monza, in the Larbre Competition Ferrari 550 Maranello, owned and run in collaboration with Care Racing. Now the French team heads for the second round of the FIA GT Championship in Magny-Cours next weekend.

"Monza was such a good race, but we are working hard to do even better, to improve the car," Gardel said. "We need a consistent car for the race, as it will be difficult to beat the Maserati MC12s in qualifying. And the 40 kg penalty weight we will have will not help at all…

"We also need to keep an eye on the Corvette, as they proved that they are really competitive, and moreover they will be carrying no weight. "

"We were really at 100% for Monza, so we need to do even more," he continued. "The Championship is so long and so tough, and that is our goal for the season. So we will head to Magny-Cours to concentrate on doing our job and hope to do as well as we did in Monza. It is so close out there, which I really like, but it also means that all the small details become vitally important."

And what about those final laps at Monza ? "It was awful, just watching!" Gardel said. "Pedro was doing a really good job, but to me, each lap seemed to take an hour. I kept on thinking of all the things that could go wrong. But it was wonderful. To win my home round, in front of friends, family and sponsors, was really good. So now we'll head to France and hope to gain some more points and another good result."

Gardel will be competing in the Porsche Supercup this weekend, after recently being offered a guest drive. "It will be nice to be back in a Porsche and to race in this tough category. But my mind is still concentrating on Magny-Cours as that is my Championship and very important to me."
