The two Care
Racing Ferrari 550 Maranellos qualified at Silverstone with
an identical time of 1:16.650 and thus will line up side by
side on the third row of the grid for tomorrow's third round of the FIA GT Championship,
the centenary running of the Tourist Trophy.
Both times were set this morning during the
first of the day's two timed qualifying sessions, and the order
remained largely unchanged down the leaderboard in the slower, afternoon session.
Italian Fabrizio Gollin, driving in place of Pedro Lamy at
Larbre Competition this weekend, was the first to set the
time for the 3 hour race. He is sharing the car with his
former BMS team mate, Gabriele Gardel of Switzerland.
Fabrizio Gollin: "I was not lucky! I didn't have a lot of
traffic - only one car just after Bridge, but I think I lost
three or four tenths of a second there. I'm happy to be the
quickest Ferrari, especially as we are carrying 10kg of
ballast too. I used both sets of tyres this morning and
found traffic on both of my quickest laps. But I'm happy as
we have done good work on the set up."
Gardel was upbeat about the team's prospects for the race
when he got out of the car at the end of this afternoon's 45
minute session, feeling that the car was well balanced and
that the consistent lap times posted on full tanks of fuel
boded well for the race.
Christophe Bouchut was tasked with qualifying the blue
Russian Age Racing/Cirtek-managed Ferrari, but was hampered
by problems with the gearbox. He said after the sessions. |
