07.07.2005 Through its three customer teams, Care Racing will be hoping to maintain its 100% success record in the LMES GT1 category in this coming weekend's Monza 1000kms

Through its three customer teams, BMS Scuderia Italia, MenX and Convers, Care Racing will be hoping to maintain its 100 percent success record in the GT1 (formerly GTS) category of the Le Mans Endurance Series this coming weekend, during the Monza 1000kms. One of the company’s Prodrive-developed Ferrari 550 Maranellos has won every single round in the series’ history to date.

With nearly three months having passed since the opening round of the LMES, the teams are keen to get back to Europe’s most popular endurance racing series. Ten GT1 cars will be contesting a fiercely fought battle, and the four Ferrari 550s are expected to amongst the top runners all weekend.

BMS Scuderia Italia, who won the GT1 class at Spa in April, has a busy weekend coming up due to a round of the Italian GT Championship taking place in Budapest. The Brescia-based team has two Ferrari 550s contesting that Championship as well as the two which will be in Italy, which has had an impact on the driver line up in car nr 51. Miguel Ramos, who, with Matteo Malucelli, is defending the Championship lead in the Italian series, will be replaced by fellow Portuguese Antonio Coimbra whose experience includes racing a GNM Saleen in the FIA GT Championship. The line up for car nr 52 remains unchanged from Spa.

Running in the colours of Convers Bank, the Cirtek-managed entry will be looking to improve upon their 2nd place finish in Spa. The Franco-Russian driving team, led by the highly experienced Christophe Bouchut, will be able to profit from the many hours they spent in the cockpit of the Maranello at Le Mans. They are race fit and ready for success.

The fourth Care Racing supported entry is from the Czech MenX team. One of their drivers, Tomas Enge, is perhaps one of the busiest men in motor racing today – combining his IRL duties for Panther Racing in North America with an appearance for Aston Martin Racing at Le Mans and his commitments to MenX. He will be coming to Monza directly from an IRL test in Sonoma, California. Fellow driver Robert Pergl has, since Spa, competed in some Ferrari Challenge races to keep him race-ready, and he is anxious to return to the track at which he first drove the Ferrari 550 in 2005. “
It will be nice to drive the Maranello again, and I am really looking forward to it. I hope that our weekend will go smoothly because we should have a strong race. The test in March was quite good and it is nice to have some experience with the car and the track under my belt. I think that a place on the podium is definitely possible.” A third driver, Jarek Janis, has also been nominated for this entry as a precautionary measure in case, for some reason, Enge is not able to make it to Monza due to IRL commitments.
