2004 marked the official return of Alfa Romeo to South African Motorsport. The three Alfa 147 GTA’s challenged the BMW supremacy throughout the season. The championship was left to be decided upon in a nail-biting finale at the last two races of the season at Kyalami.

The team’s objective was to achieve a podium result. They were successful with seven wins during the season, which included Alfa Romeo’s first official win in 20 years at Kyalami last May.

Michael Burkhart, General Manager for Marketing at Fiat Auto South Africa said: “This promises to be one of the most exciting years South African Motorsport will experience. With new competitors entering the championship, Alfa Romeo will be right in the front to challenge for the title.”
