Alfa Romeo
has today revealed Italian pricing for the new Alfa Spider ahead of its
international press launch which will take place in Valderice, Sicily on
13th June. First presented at the Geneva Motor Show on 28th February the
stylish new Alfa Spider was immediately handed the title of 'Cabrio of the
Year' at the show, awarded by a prestigious international jury.
Derived from the
Alfa Brera coupé, the new
Spider is an elegant 2-seater with generous dimensions.
Inside, the passenger compartment is welcoming and highly
sophisticated, thanks to the use of luxury materials and
other outstanding features (which are standard depending on
the version): from dual-zone automatic climate control to
steering-wheel-mounted radio controls, VDC and Cruise
control. The new car guarantees the temperament of an Alfa
and excellent dynamic performance thanks to high double wishbone suspension
at the front and a Multilink system at the rear. Meanwhile in the safety
field, the new Alfa Romeo Spider is fitted with the most sophisticated
electronic devices to control the car’s dynamic behaviour, from braking to
traction.
The Alfa Spider
will be available on the European markets this summer in two equipment and
trim levels (Spider and Exclusive) and with two petrol engine options: the
2.2-litre JTS unit with 185 bhp, and the 3.2 -litre V6 with 260bhp. Both
powerplants will offer 6-speed gearboxes while the latter will also feature
Alfa Romeo's new four wheel drive Q4 transmission and an automatic gearbox
option. Italian market pricing was also revealed today: the 'Spider 2.2 JTS'
will be priced at 35,800 euros, while higher-specification 'Exclusive'
version will cost an extra 2,000 euros, coming in at 37,800 euros. The Alfa
Spider Exclusive 3.2 JTS V6 Q4 model will top the range at 45,800 euros.
On 13th June the
new Alfa Spider will be presented to the international press at
the Tonnara di Bonagia hotel. A famous Sicilian "tonnara"
(tuna fishery) which dates back to the seventeenth
century, it has been in recent years been transformed back to its original charm through an accurate restoration,
which now covers the whole area of the historic seaside fishing village.
