The Olympic flame, emblem of the Games
and the most sporting of values, linked up with Ferrari,
symbol of 'made in Italy' excellence. The relationship
is one of passion: that which underlines the oldest
sporting competition and that which has always
distinguished the mythical Prancing Horse.
"The voyage of the Olympic flame", explained the vice
president of the TOROC, Evelina Christillin, "is a
unique occasion to spead and promote the values of
peace, trust and brotherhood that are the foundations of
the Games. With this journey we wanted to celebrate a
number of things that many believed would be
impossible: the natural, artistic, cultural and also the
industrial beauty of our country. Ferrari is one of the
most important sporting entities in Italy and had to be
present on an occasion like this".
"Ferrari, which since its birth has sporting spirit
as one of its core principles, is proud to host the
Olympic symbol. It is an event that has always had the
capacity and strength to carry messages of global
significance", added Ferrari's vice Direttore Generale,
Amedeo Felisa.
The flame left Bologna in the morning and passed
through Modena at 10.06, Formigine at 11.41 before
reaching Maranello at around 11.45. Ferrari's head test
driver, Dario Benuzzi, was the first Ferrari
representative, at 11.50, to receive the flame.
